12" LONG PLAY (LP)

In 1948 Columbia Records used the 'microgroove' groove specification for the first time in history. The playback speed was reduced to 33 1/3 RPM and the groove density was more than doubled in comparison to the previous versions. This is how the classic 12-inch Long Play (LP) was created. Total running time for this medium depends greatly on the frequency and dynamic range, stereo specifications and other factors that must be taken into consideration. The recommended record time is usually 20-23 minutes. Yet, it can be longer in many cases. Available colours include standard black records or transparent ones. 7" covers are manufactured using the same high-quality type of cardboard used for the 10' and 12' versions.
